Adventures for 2018

Last sunset of 2017
Last Sunset of 2017

The last sunset of 2017 is in the books, and it was a beauty. What a way to end the year!

Now it’s time to look forward to what 2018 has to offer, and it is just full of possibilities.

I have always been one to get to my campsite via my truck and then pitch a tent, but in 2018 things are going to change. I am trying something completely new. Since I love to hike, I am acquiring the gear for some backpacking trips. Not only will my mode of transportation change (my feet), but my sleeping arrangements will change as well. In 2018 I will be camping out in a hammock for the first time. At 45 yrs old, me and the ground has had a slight disagreement. I want softer, and it refuses to budge.

I can see a lot of advantages to a hammock, especially in some of the areas I plan on exploring this year. There will be very little flat ground, and the potential for rocks is huge… and then again, so are the rocks.

I have several adventures planned already that will have me backpacking in the Ozark National Forrest, peddling my way across the Delta region, visiting the caves in north Arkansas, and with any kind of luck canoeing the rapids. That’s just what I have planned 14 days into the new year. No telling what else will happen, and I will bring you along for all of it.

What adventures do you have planned? Let us know in the comments below.

Until next time…
head out and explore your world,
and maybe, just maybe
you will stumble across the
ol’ Turtle on the trail!
